Luke Impresses Me

Luke is now in Pre-K... it just amazes me what they are already doing!
His teacher drew this on the board
And this was his interpretation of her drawing:
Eyes, nose, head, legs... all there!  Wow!

Cori Month 2

Our sweet girl is 2 months old!
She is sporting her jeggings that Andee, Justin's sister gave her :)
Stats:
Weight: 11 pounds, 2 oz
Length: 22.5 inches
Eating: 3.5 oz every 3 hours
Sleeping:  3 hour blocks... at night she has given us 2 nights of 5 hour stretches!!!
Clothing Size:  0-3 month... so sad to already be putting away newborn sizes!
Diaper Size:  Size 1
Favorites: Vibrating bouncy seat (helps at night since we are dealing with reflux and colic), play mat, Luke (when he gets home from school you stay awake for an hour to watch what moves he will make next, you smile when he talks to you and when you flail an arm and hit him, he thinks it is so funny), when I move in for a kiss, you open your mouth really wide... LOVE it!  You fall asleep on every car ride, even the 5 minute ones!  You love bath time... you have colic every night from 7-10 and this is one way to help you relax... you stare so contently and kick your feet to make splashes... when I wash your head you close your eyes and take it all in.

The housekeepers had not seen Cori in 2 weeks, came in to see her, and said she was Cordita!  Yay!  Baby in a bowl:
At 7 weeks, Cori started smiling:
Full face grins are my favorite!
Catching my babies loving each other- melt me!
This month, Cori met Uncle Justin
And Uncle Chris, Aunt Christy, and Cousin Caleb!
Soon to be, Uncle Chad-- poor guy signed up for a wife and inherited 3 nieces/nephews... he fits right in and they love him!
Luke choose to stay in Memaw and Granddaddy's room on his pallet to steer clear of sister's 2am wake up... smart kid.  Aunt Jamie and Uncle Chris dog piled on Luke's pallet and he came running into the living room saying "Momma... there are strangers in my bed... get them out!"
Cori, I can't believe another month has gone by!  You are starting to come alive and it is so much fun to see what you will discover next!  I will never forget your first smile... your face was so big and gummy and happy!   I pray you are always a happy girl and share your smile generously!  We just adore you and thank God you are a part of our family!  We love you!

Bourne Trip

One of Brent's MBA friends had a wedding in the hill country, so we decided to make it a road trip and enjoy a night out!  Granna and Pops got the hotel room next to us to babysit... it was WONDERFUL!  Dressing up, eating yummy food, visiting with fun friends, wearing makeup ;), white table cloths!

We also logged some fun family time too!  Breakfast at the hotel:
We visited The Cave Without A Name and had the place practically to ourselves!
Luke made it very clear he did not want to see any bats (my bad for mentioning that when talking about our upcoming trip!)
Going 100 ft under ground
Family pic... Cori slept the whole time :)
The boys watching Stalagtights dripping
The girls hanging by the lake
Pops bought Luke a push pop after our tour... and Granna bought him a shirt, a bag of rocks, a coloring book and a bat figure for show and tell... he knows how to work his Grandparents :)
My hot date!
They had a photo booth at the wedding... here are our party pics (this is a pic of a pic)
Our babysitters!
They swam, played Chutes and Ladders Superhero Squad style, ate corn dogs, and watched movies... what a fun time we all had!

Cori Month 1

Our little Cori is one month old!  Right now, she sleeps a lot, eats a lot, and cries a lot.  We assure big brother Luke that she will in fact be more interactive when she gets bigger, like him.  For now, we enjoy all the firsts and soak in every little cuddle.
Stats:
Weight:  8 pounds 5 oz
Length: 21 inches
Sleeping/Eating:  Every 3 hours, like clock work
Clothing/ Diapers:  Size Newborn

This sweet babe met a lot of people in her first month of life!
Second Cousin, Caleb, Honey, Cori, Luke (All of Honey's Great Grand's)
Honey dropped by for some hugs:
Granna and Pops came up for Labor Day weekend

Pops certainly lights up when he holds his Cori.
Aunt Melody came up
***Memaw, Granddaddy and Aunt Jamie also came to visit... I still need to obtain their pictures, so stay tuned for an update!!!

A picture of my girl all sprawled out... look at her tiny legs because next month, BAM, they get big!
We had a little set back at 3 weeks... Cori's Pedi thought she had hip dysplasia so we had to go for an ultrasound at Cook Childrens Hospital to confirm the hip pops.  Granna came back up to help me get through a very rough week of dreading that and feeding issues.  The technician did the ultrasound and said Cori had "beautiful hips" and man, the tears flowed.  We are so thankful we avoided months of wearing a brace to reset her bones.  All the while, I was praying God hold his child-- we would have trusted Him with either outcome, but so thankful for Cori that she is healthy.  Thank you Granna for rescuing me!
Dear Cori, You have come into our wonderful family and completed us so perfectly.  Your brother adores you, your Daddy's eyes light up when he see's you, and your Momma can't get enough of your sweet kisses.  We are so thankful for you and they joy you bring us.  We look forward to watching you grow and knowing you more.  I love you.

Cori's Diaper Shower

Our Sunday School friends showered us with diapers-- it was amazing!  We met at Mimi's Cafe for breakfast and good girl time.  My friend Julie organized it all making it look effortless, which I know it's not!  Thank you all for your excitement for this time in our family's life!  We are blessed beyond measure by your support through all of the early labor scares, the meals, the gifts, and most of all your prayers!  We humbly felt them all.
I love these girls so much

A&M, SEC, BFFs = Good Times!

Our first official road trip as a family of four was a success!  Nothing was going to stop us from going to College Station to be a part of the first game in the SEC excitement, not to mention hanging with our college pals and their kids!
Walking around campus... Century Tree
Putting pennies on Sul Ross's boot:
Football at the MSC
We saw the band march in
Luke, Kirby, Mackey, Paxton (aka. Maxton)
Luke thought it was loud :)
Chad, Abbey, Cori, Jamie, Luke, Bremt
Revilee made her appearance (Luke's favorite):

And the kids played hard while we grilled out.  Man, we have a good time with these guys!
Cori was a little trooper and came along in her stroller and slept strait through the band marching in!

Homework

Our Daughter, Cori Elizabeth Brewer is HERE!

We are so excited to announce that Cori is here!  After months of praying for her safety and development, my water broke at midnight on week 37, day 0 Sunday morning, August 5!  My mom was staying with us because this was a busy weekend for our family-- Brent was taking a core class at TCU to be able to graduate in the Fall, it was his month end close, we had just RSVP'd "yes" to a couples shower for that evening, and my OB was on vacation  ;)
Headed out the door close to midnight
Brent and I drove up to the hospital and we were hooked up to the monitors around 1:30am.  The nurse confirmed that Cori was still breech, and we would be having a C-Section at 5:00 after the antibiotic drip had a few hours to go to work (I was Step B positive).
Last pregnant belly picture
Dr. Rost came in at 5 am, we had an ultrasound and a few minutes later we were headed for the OR.  It was cold, sterile, and Brent was not with me for the spinal block... I was overwhelmed but excited that in a few minutes I would meet my daughter!  I have scoliosis, so the spinal block went in a little crooked, so they had to position the table inverted and to the right to get my tummy numb- whoa.  Brent watched the whole thing, so I made sure to not look at him because I didn't want his face to freak me out :)  And at 5:37am, I heard the most beautiful, strong, lady-like cry.  I am still speechless with the emotions I felt.  My family was complete- thank you Lord.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the first moments of Cori's life.  We are blessed and humbled by our friends and family as you have loved us, encouraged us, prayed for us, cooked for us, put your lives on hold for us, and showered us.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
