Beating the Heat!

We just got back from a summer visit to my parents house- we had not seen Melody and Justin since they left for Italy last August! It was good to all be in the same room together! To make it better, my cousin, Lindsay and her Husband Dean brought Caleb to play with Luke and log some time by the pool! It was a fun time!

Squeeking Out Every Last Bit of Summer

In Brent's 2.5 weeks of his summer break, we were going to pack in the fun! We ended the break with an overnight stay at the Great Wolf Lodge.

Luke loved the water park! I didn't take many pictures because our camera is not waterproof and we really just wanted to have fun without the blow by blow documentation! Here are the few pictures I took:

I was most impressed that Luke went down a huge twirling water slide and loved it. This was his kiddy pool warm up!

We went to dinner at Fudruckers and a guy made Luke a dinosaur balloon animal... this $1 treat may have been the highlight of Luke's entire trip! He was sad when we told him he couldn't sleep with it and Luke is intent on taking it to school in 6 days for show and tell!

They have a story time every night and this clock tower comes to life-- the creapy animals sing "There's nothing to be scared of" Watch this and tell me this is not scary! :)

One night, I was laying in bed with you, Luke, and while you were winding down, I started telling you that I love you more than (insert your favorites here). You giggled at the thought ;)

Didi (you build him a house to sleep in when you go to school)

Tangeriene and Tangeriene's Daddy (you LOVE Tangerine that Honey bought you at the zoo... you ONLY wanted that little tiny monkey when she offered you anything in the store. One night you looked across the room at the orange Astros ralley monkey and called him Tangeriene's Daddy)

Chapstick- a lot of our chapstick goes missing these days! (you were eatting an orange flavored Dum Dum and said "Yum... it smells like chapstick!" Your Momma is so proud of your food associations!!!)

"Dinnosaur Ta-rain"- you love this PBS show right now! When it is over, you say in the sweetest voice, "Just OOONE more-- just one".

That same night, I guess we had more to pray for than normal at our bedtime prayers and when I said Amen, you whispered "Thats a lot". God can handle those long prayers, sweet boy! Momma and Daddy love you.

Luke got to help Savannah celebrate turning 3 at her church's play land... this place was massive:

But they did great!

Cal said, and I quote, "I hope one of these kids has a melt down so I can go in there and save them-- at some point, they snuck in. Here are Brent and Cal being good dads and keeping the children safe ;) Brent is spinning Cal around in the mouse trap thing:

"Summer Brent"

Brent has the next TWO WEEKS off without school!!! No stress, no worries, just a job, a kid and a wife who are loving every second we get with him!

Brent is trying to tackle his "Honey Do" list as well, so we took a trip to Home Depot on Saturday- Luke woke up and I asked him if he wanted to go buy paint for his big boy room and he whined "I want Daddy to coooooomeeee"... Lucky Duck, Luke!... Summer Brent WAS in fact coming on this errand! There was a worksop going on and Luke got to make his own treasure box with Daddy's help! They hammered the box together:

Date night! With cloth napkins, low lighting and a babysitter... ahhhh.

Playing with friends- we were celebrating the completion of Tim's MBA! Yay Tim!

The next two weeks are packed with fun... baseball games, football games, waterparks, concerts, and scrabble re-matches! Happy summer to us all, but mostly to my Summer Brent! Ha!

Luke really likes the "Alleluia song"... last night Brent turned it on in the car and Luke gasped and said excitedly, "My song!" I just love hearing him sing along!

Milestone: Poo Poo ;)

This is the face of a boy who has just gone POO POO IN THE POTTY!!! WHHHHHHOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!

Mrs. Vanessa called me from day care with the news that Luke came running out of the bathroom, pants around his ankles, screaming he had just gone poo poo! Luke could hear me squeel with joy through the phone! He was awarded the scooter that has been sitting in my car for weeks taunting him,

and a meaty pizza WITH APPLE JUICE for dinner (Luke also announced to Papa Murphy's pizza that he indeed had gone poo poo in the potty!- they gave him a sticker :).

Lukey, your scooter looks just like Corduroy's! Momma and Daddy are so proud of you!

Never a Dull Guys night!

Brent organized a Sunday School guys night at mini golf last week. To spice up the competition, they would all be competing for a thrift store green jacket (similar to the Masters). There was a 3 way tie,

So the 3 guys had to dance off for the title on Dance Dance Revolution

Wade won (I think it was that he performed without shoes:) and was awarded the prize

To be worn to Sunday School the next morning :) Looking sharp, Wade!

The funniest thing about the whole night... all of these big, tough guys lined up at the prize counter and cashed in their tickets for prizes to take home to their kids.
