Mother's Day 2011

Luke and I decided to go to Houston for Mother's day, we had to leave Brent behind to take classes for school... he was missed for sure! It did however, turn into a party!
I think we'll have a pool rat on our hands this summer!

Onlookers:

Chris and Christy having fun in the COLD pool!

We didn't know how we would ever get Luke out of the pool, so Aunt Kay took Luke on a ride in her "cool car"!

Luke's favorites- Uncle Chris and Didi

Granna & Pops

Honey

Aunt Jamie:

Playing in the COLD ice bucket

"Helping" Pops paint his big boy bed

It was a happy Mother's Day indeed!

Luke at 2.5!

My BABY is 2.5!

Luke has moved up classes both at church and at school into the late 2 and 3 year olds and seems to be picking up new things every day- his first day in the big kid class at daycare he pee peed on the potty twice- he was SOOO proud of himself! They said they showed him a urinal and he looked at them like they were crazy! Ha! I am hoping with every $40 box of diapers I buy it will be our last :) I have been prematurely hoping this for 6 months now :)

They learned the motions to Father Abraham in chapel class at school too:

Luke is an independent, strong willed little guy who doesn't fear much of anything (except bugs- I sort of fostered that :). My friend tells me that the hardest characteristics to parent are what will make him successful in life and I pray she is right! He also gives kisses more freely now which melts his Momma's heart every time. When he wakes up every morning, Brent asks Luke what he dreamed about-- the answer is always "apple juice".

Some of the cute things Luke has said lately:
1. At Easter, we were talking about Jesus's sacrifice... Luke called it a "Soccer Fish"
2. As we approach the train tracks, Luke always asks the whole car "Momma, are you ready?", "Daddy- ready?", "Ready guys?"

Luke LOVES playing basketball, is very good at kicking the soccer ball, but his #1 is still football. He wants to see the Aggies this fall (and so do we)!

We had two geese at a pond near our house and Luke and I would drive by daily to see them or feed them. Luke named them Birdy. One day, Birdy left and never came back, so we were driving by the much bigger pond and saw some more geese. We explained that Birdy flew to the bigger pond to swim with the ducks. He liked that story and tells us every time we pass the small pond where Birdy is now.

Luke's favorite foods are pizza from Papa Murphys, donuts, and Freebirds steak. On a hungry day, he can eat two tacos by himself! He is drinking (his favorite is "Berry Juice") from a big boy cup now (no spills yet!), and asks for jelly beans every time he sees the candy dish from Easter. We do manage to get some healthy stuff down him too :)

We love our little guy to pieces and as much as I'd like to freeze him right here forever, my Mom reminds me the goal is to have him grow up! I know, I know.

I love you, sweet boy. Happy half birthday!

Royal Wedding Exclusive

Well, good day darlings! Fancy me this, please read this blog post with a British accent to get the full effect of the Royal Wedding celebration!

My good mate from work threw a smashing good party to celebrate Katie's wait was finally over!

Bridesmaids, reporting for duty!

Kate looked quite kitchey in her posh gown...

My Mum was wishing she was there to eat cucumber sandwiches, wedding cake, Digestives, trifle, cream poufs, quiche, and high tea!

Early Morning Margaret gave her best Camilla impressions and kept us au fait with up to the moment coverage using her 28 page, *COLORED* wedding program and Ipad as references.

Kathy won the Royal quiz question- what color will the Queen wear to the wedding?

We ended the splended morning with party favours of royal wedding candles, lip balm, and British hand sanitizer! It was a day of wedded bliss, I quite assure you.

Long live the Queen!

Toodles!

Icing cookies:

A favorite from Aunt Jaime's box of Easter goodies! (As if bath time couldn't get ANY wetter ;) Aunt Jamie knows the way to this boy's heart!

Luke thought you had to "crack" the eggs to open them, so I thought we needed to get that on video :)

Can you see the video?

Spring Time Egg Hunt

Luke had an egg hunt at day care on Friday, so I got to come and watch! It was a party the minute we walked through the door from donuts with sprinkles to pizza to watermellon slices!
Last one in line for the egg hunt:

First one onto the playground:

We practiced at home :)

Teacher's Easter present

Memaw and Granddaddy sent a box full of Easter goodies that was waiting on the doorstep when we got home!

The light spinning egg was a big hit!

Granna and Pops sent him his very first pocket bible with his name engraved on the cover. They highlighted their favorite verses in it. Man, we are blessed with wonderful grandparents!

Guest Post by Brent

The Cross

As Easter approaches I want you to reconsider the cross. Crucifixion is a horrendous way to die, but many people, believers and nonbelievers, in the Roman world endured crucifixion. While it is important to remember the physical and mental anguish Christ experienced the day of his crucifixion, it is much more important to consider the true cause of His agony on the cross. It wasn’t the beating he endured. It wasn’t the nails that pierced His hands and feet. It wasn’t the exhaustion. It wasn’t the mocking. It wasn’t the spear in His side. The thing that brought true agony was that for a moment Christ became sin for us, and for that moment Christ became the one thing that God hates most of all which caused him to be separated from the Father. That is why He exclaimed, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken Me?”

The bible says that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. This doesn’t necessarily mean that if we sin we will die. It means that because of our sin we deserve the second death – eternal damnation – to be separated from God. On the day of the crucifixion, Christ took the burden of our sin and endured the mighty and just wrath of God. Christ paid our penalty and redeemed us, and by accepting the sacrifice, Christ is our advocate to the Father on our behalf. Christ eternally quenched the wrath of God on our behalf. This was the suffering he endured for us on the cross.

“Before the Throne”
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea.
A great high priest whose name is love
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on his hands,
My name is written on his heart.
I know that while in Heaven he stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart.
When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see him there
Who made an end to all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free.
For God the just is satisfied
To look on him and pardon me.
Behold him there the risen Lamb,
My perfect spotless righteousness,
The great unchangeable I AM,
The King of glory and of grace,
One in himself I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by his blood,
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Savior and my God!

6 Years

Happy Anniversary! It's been so fun getting to 6 with you Brent... every year gets better. I love you!
Dinner at Macaroni Grill (coloring on the tables and pizza was the way to go this anniversary!:)

We missed watching our wedding video on Saturday, so I made Brent look through our wedding album instead :) And he THOUGHT I'd miss it... no way!

Goodbye 20's-- Hello 30!

Hello 30... I welcome you... I just hope you can keep up!

Birthday Kiss!

We started celebrating early (since my birthday nicely fell on a MONDAY)! With fondue and friends! (Zoom in to check out my birthday earrings from my awesome Hubs!)

Todd's first fondue experience!

Wade brought lotto tickets- Brent was the big winner at $1... would have been quite a birthday if Wade had made me a milliionaire!!! Ha!

My besties:

My youthful staff thought it would be funny to mourn the loss of my 20's! They posted baby pictures all over the building and decorated my office in black.

I met my Aunt Holly for lunch and a SURPRISE visitor showed up!!! My MOMMA drove up fro Houston!!! Best birthday present EVER!!!

Brent had class Monday night, so Momma bathed Luke and watched Dancing With The Stars with me!

I am blessed to be at 30 and look forward to the year ahead! Thank you all for making it a special day!

Allie Love

Luke has started following Allie around because he can "chase" her the longest :) The other day, we were outside, and chasing... all of a sudden, Allie stopped and crouched over to take care of business... so here is the conversation that took place:

Luke: Momma! Allie poo poo!

Me: Yes, Luke. Allie goes poo poo in the yard, you go poo poo in the potty

(Allie walks away, Luke gets a look on his face that looks like he is about to touch it)

Me: NNNNNOOOOO!!! (It worked). We don't touch poo poo- it is dirty.

Luke: No touch poo poo. Dirty.

(Allie walks back over and Luke notices she needs some additional help.)

Luke: Wipe Allie's bootie. Need help.

Me: No, Luke. I'll do it.

(Luke disappears as I continue to water plants).

(Luke appears with MY KITCHEN HAND TOWEL)

Luke: Wipe Allie's bootie. (In the sweetest, most concerned voice ever) Come here Baby Girl.

(Allie runs away)

Me: Luke, lets not use the kitchen towel. Lets go get a Kleenex.

(we go get the Kleenex and return to a clean dog)
Lesson learned: I don't think there is one, but it was pretty funny!

And the Winner is....

Brent! (by technicality!)

Thanks to the ONE other person who voted with me that horses eat meat... it was probably a sympathy vote, or maybe you googled the article that I read where some person's horse ate their hamburger.

All I will say is horses CAN eat meat (as noted by the person who's horse ate a hamburger), their digestive systems just don't like it, so TECHNICALLY, they are herbivores. Way to go Brent for winning the bet... finally ;)
