Halloweens Past

This is a very random post of all of my favorite Halloween memories with my one and only...

THEN
(2003- our first Halloween together... Brent and Ben took Tiffany and I on in a friendly game of bowling... winners picked the losers costumes... girls won and Ben and Brent went as Captain Hook and Peter Pan! You might think by the looks of the Oompa Loompa costume I lost, but that would not be the case!)

THEN,
In 2008, Brent and I had a pumpkin carving contest... all of our blog readers voted and the winner got a new pair of shoes.
This is the winning pumpkin (Abbey's) :)
This is the looser pumpkin (Brent's)
There was a little debacle about the contest not being fair (that is always what losers say)!LOL!
Moving on!
THEN
2009 Alternateens!
2009 - Luke exactly 365 days after we brought him home from the hospital!

NOW
A sneak peek of our big boy's costume for 2010! My only stipulation: it had to have a BIG tail!
Happy Fall!

A Little Means A Lot

Brent and I have been moved by mission work in Uganda called Empower A Child. Our prayer is for these future leaders of Uganda to be educated as well as be exposed to the Good News that we sometimes take for granted living in America.

What led us here? A realization that we might get to the end of our lives with a nice house, a comfortable 401K, and a life that missed out on God's best because we were too caught up on our lives to care for others, as he commanded.

*Do not just listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves, DO what it says- James 1:22
*Join with others in following my example, brothers, and take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you- Phil. 3:17
*Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. Matt. 28: 19-20
* This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3

My reason for posting this is to ask you to GET INVOLVED- If you want to be in the center of God's will, GO where God is!!! Empower A Child is currently building a training center and needs the money to house these kids, teach them, and feed them.

The total cost of the building is $600,000 and they will raise money brick by brick, dollar by dollar! Be a part of something bigger than yourself... don't go out to eat just one time this month and make a difference in Uganda! Click HERE to donate $25 (225 bricks!!!).

I know every time I post something about 100 people read this... together, we could potentially give $2500! I also know that when I get asked to support a cause, I roll my eyes and delete thinking someone else will do it... but what if they don't?

Choo Choo!

Luke's BFF Drew is turning two! We got to celebrate this past weekend in a big way!

The kids got to ride in a real train!

We kind of rode the kids coat tails into the train too :)

Sweet friends!

Happy birthday to our buddy, Drew!

Game Day is our favorite day!

"Hey Driver! Take me to the game... and step on it!"
I am pretty sure my mom has this same picture of me when I was Luke's age!
Here it is! I was a little older.

Laffy taffy tongue:

We met up with our friends from Houston, the McGuires... This was the first time I got to meet Madison!

We made Luke and Landon hug :)

All smiles!

FIRST Freebirds burrito... Brent was beside himself with excitement to initiate Luke into his time honored Freebird's tradition of eating a burrito that is too big for oneself!

Man, we love game days!

Rodeo Roundup

Luke had Rodeo Round up at day care on Friday! He was "pumpped up" to bring donuts for his friends!

PS-- I made that cute little shirt with Sarah's sewing machiene that I am now holding hostage!!! YeeeHaw!

Pumpkin Decorating 2010

Granna sent Luke some stickers to decorate his pumpkin with...

He asked for paint all on his own to add some bling, I guess!

Here is his finished masterpiece!

A&M Football: Like Putting Lipstick On A Pig!

So good to see our old A&M buds! Our tailgating party:

Playing Corn Holes

The biggest grill known to man:
Cowboy's Stadium... fancy!
Half Time: The Band never disappoints!
Awwww, Matchy, Matchy: Ben and Brent
4th Quarter:

Followed by the walk of shame back to our cars! At least Arkansas fans let us down easily.

Meanwhile, Luke got to play at Nana and Peep's (Tiffany's parent's) house with Addison and Sydney-- he had a ball and we enjoyed our adult time for sure!

Bowling

We met up with Brent's MBA group for some bowling Friday night- this was Luke's first bowling experience, so we knew it would be fun!

(Lauren, Ashley (Justin's girlfriend), Justin, Brent and Luke, Me, Andy, Josh, Beth (Josh's mom)

After eating dinner at Chickfil-A, we went a few minutes early to play some games... Luke's favorite was Ski Ball... a boy after my own heart!
He loved basketball too!
With his tickets, he bought a hackey sack and loved throwing it all over the bowling alley and running after it. Oh my stars, he was busy!

I took Luke up to the line to throw the ball down the lane, helped him give it a big push and the ball was off! So was Luke... running past the foul line after the ball... I froze and looked at Brent like "What do I do?" Brent went into save-the-day mode and ran after our child before he got to the pins... from then on, we were holding the back of Luke's shirt :)
I guess it was a little confusing because we run after every other ball we throw! I think we will remember this night for a long time!

10!

Pumpkin Patch 2010

Keeping It Real

Having an almost 2 year old is wonderful, but trying at times... here is your proof!

A few weeks ago, Luke dumped blocks on the floor after clean up time and told his teacher "no" when she asked him to pick them up... Luke ended up in the Directors office. This was our peace offering the next morning :)

At Josiah's birthday party, Josiah opened up a package of cars and Luke TOOK them out of Josiah's hand and said "Mine". I took them away promptly and said "NO! Those are Josiah's" to which Luke proceeded to throw himself on the floor in a screaming protest... kind of like this:

During this picture, Luke looked at me like I was crazy for taking a picture during his fit... I think it just ticked him off even more. LOL!

Oh, did I mention Josiah's Dad got it all on video? Nice.

And our latest challenge is that Luke has started hitting Brent and I when we tell him to do something he doesn't like. We are still figuring out how to get through to him on this one. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Seems like ignoring him is working best so far. Time outs don't phase and spanking him for hitting just seems contradictory...

So there is your proof friends, we are not always all smiles at our house, but we will take the bad with the good!
